〜天皇陛下のことば〜

私が６０年ほど生きてきた中で人生最大のショックだったことばというのは、天皇のことばです。

人間の魂はここまで崇高で美しくなれるものなのか、と絶句しました。

１月１日、早く起きた天皇は

東西南北、四方の空に向ってこう言うというのです。

「もし今年、日本に災いが降ってくるのであれば、まず私の体を通してからにしてください」　　

これを、四方拝と言うそうです。

周りの皆さんが災いを浴びるくらいなら、私の体に集めてください、

と神に向ってお祈りをする…。

天皇のことばを知って以来、病身の我が身には変化が起きてきました。

その友人一人ひとりのために、私がもし不運や不幸の一部でも担うことが出来るのであれば、その友人たちの少しの不幸を我が身に集めて、

こういう病気になった、と思ってみたならば「それでいいかな」と、

耐えていけるし、我慢もできると思いました。

天皇のように日本国民すべて、

つまり多くの全く知らない人たちのために、我が身を通してくれ、というところまでは全くいきませんが、病気というものは愛する人の肩代わりと考えると楽なのです。

天皇のことばを入れるにあたり、

私自身の中で迷いがありました。

しかし、人間の素晴らしさ、人間の魂の崇高さ、というものに心から敬意を表します。

人間って素晴らしいものだと結論になりました。

人間の一言一言というのは本当にすごい力を持っていると思います。

It is the emperor's statement that the biggest shock in my life after living for about 60 years.

I wondered if the human soul could be so noble and beautiful.
